Dresser-Rand hosts technology day to demonstrate new waste heat recovery system

Dresser-Rand, a global supplier of environmentally-friendly technology platforms, has welcomed more than 50 clients, industry experts and other guests to Olean, New York State, for “Echogen Technology Day” to introduce its new Multi-MW EPS100 waste heat recovery unit.

The event coincided with the successful system shop testing qualification and involved a tour of the company’s manufacturing and testing facility with demonstrations of the new unit conducted by Dresser-Rand and Echogen representatives. Other highlights included presentations on the technical aspects of the Multi-MW EPS100 waste recovery system and several market applications.

Echogen Power Systems provides innovative waste heat-to-energy solutions that use a supercritical CO2 working fluid to convert waste heat into power more efficiently than existing organic Rankine cycle (ORC) technologies. The technology does not require additional fuel and avoids the creation of new emissions which were previously released directly into the atmosphere. This in turn reduces the cost per unit of the generated electricity and the overall costs of ownership, transportation and installation. Additionally, the cycle can operate water-free providing a major benefit for many water-stressed regions worldwide. It is the first time a CO2 based industrial scale waste heat to power system has been introduced into the market.

“With the Echogen technology now ready for full market release, we are accelerating discussions with potential clients for deployment of the solution in the field” said Pierre Dumas, VP Strategic Business Development and Commercialization for Dresser-Rand. “We can provide full turn-key installation and commissioning services as well as routine operations, monitoring and maintenance contracts to ensure ongoing reliable and available operations.”

Dresser-Rand specialises in the supply of rotating equipment solutions and offers some of the most efficient and, environmentally friendly technology platforms, products and services in distributed power generation, usually for oil and gas, industrial, institutional, and commercial clients and rural electrification programmes. The company’s solutions include combined heat and power (CHP) systems, biogas-fueled gen-sets, hybrid systems (solar photovoltaic and engine-based gen-sets), biomass and waste-to-energy steam turbine generators and compressed air energy storage (CAES). It operates manufacturing facilities in the United States, France, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Norway, Brazil and India and maintains a network of 49 service and support centers (including 6 engineering and R&D centers) covering more than 150 countries. The company also has principal offices in Paris, France, and Houston, Texas.
