Irish agri-food business Aurivo has signed a major new “green energy” deal with competitive energy supplier Energia.
Energia brings green energy to Aurivo in 36 GW supply deal

The new energy deal will see Energia provide 36 gigawatts of 100 percent renewable electricity to the co-op’s network of retail stores, marts, processing facilities and offices in the west of Ireland over the next two years. The company has also provided energy efficiency training to Aurivo.

Aurivo Co-operative Society Limited is an innovative multipurpose agricultural co-operative with business interests in dairy ingredients, consumer foods, agri stores, animal feed milling and livestock marts. Energia has a long standing commitment to sustainability and is one of the leading providers of renewable energy to homes and businesses across Ireland. The company currently supplies over 795 MW of green power and thanks to a number of wind farms currently in development, this will soon increase to 1,000 MW. The group remains one of the most significant contributors to the achievement of Ireland’s renewable targets and one of the largest investors in the renewable sector.

“As a fully verified member of Origin Green, Aurivo is dedicated to the sustainability charter” said Marty Dervin, Energy Manager, Aurivo. “We have already made great strides in reducing carbon emissions and energy, waste and water across our sites. With this 100 percent renewable energy deal, Aurivo is continuing to reduce our environmental impact.”

Michael Nugent, Energia, added that the company is delighted to win the business of Aurivo and that it’s a significant endorsement of the value that Energia can offer Irish businesses switching energy provider.

Energia also supports businesses through innovative energy programmes like the ‘Cash for Kilowatts’ scheme that provides grant funding to companies for energy efficiency projects. It means that any company carrying out an energy efficiency project can qualify for grant funding based on the amount of energy they save. This scheme is open to all businesses, whether or not they are customers of Energia.

The company has a 26 percent market share of the Irish business electricity and gas market supplying the energy needs of over 60,000 business customers and operates from offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Belfast and Omagh.
