Energia wins 100 percent Green Energy award for third year running

Energia remains among the greenest home electricity suppliers in the Republic of Ireland, achieving the 100 percent Green Energy award for the third year in a row.
Energia wins 100 percent Green Energy award for third year running

The award is based on the Commission for Energy Regulation’s (CER) report on fuel-mix and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions for individual electricity suppliers licensed in Ireland. ‘Fuel-mix’ means the type of fuels or resources that suppliers use to make the electricity for their customers. The report found that Energia produced 100 percent Green Energy in 2015, a similar result to 2014 and 2013.

100 percent of Energia’s fuel mix came from renewable resources in 2015. Energia Renewables is among Ireland's leading providers of sustainable green energy and 25 percent of Ireland’s wind power is provided through Energia to homes and businesses. Energia has invested over 300 million euros in wind farms since 2008 and currently supplies over 800 MW of renewable energy. This will rise to over 1,000 MW by mid-2017 with over 200 MW of projects presently in development.

The report published by the CER outlines each supplier’s fuel mix figures and the CO2 per Megawatt Hour (MWh) of electricity supplied for each supplier.

“We’re delighted to receive this recognition of our green energy credentials for the third year in a row” said Energia’s Head of Marketing Geoff Codd said. “As well as getting the best Dual Fuel home energy deal, it matters to people that the power they’re using is made as sustainably as possible.  That approach is central to our business where, through our investments in renewable energy, we are one of the most significant contributors to the achievement of Ireland’s CO2 emission reduction targets.”

Energia Group comprises of Energia Supply, Energia Renewables and Energia Generation and is a leading supplier in the Irish business energy market. Energia has powered businesses since 1999. It has a turnover in excess of 1 billion euros and employs around 260 staff.
