India’s solar plans moves ahead

Ritesh Pothan Monday, 05 December 2011

Ritesh Pothan updates us on how the JNNSM – Phase 1 Batch 2 PPA bidding process has been completed for 350 MW of PV power projects. Solar power is now that much more closer to its brothers, wind and biomass, he says.

India’s solar plans moves ahead

The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy MNRE has now officially received the bids for the second batch of solar photovoltaic power projects under the JNNSM.

As predicted in previous posts on the allocations, the competition for projects with very low bids by developers made this allocation one of the fiercest to date and brought solar power much closer to wind as well as biomass sources.

The NVVN bidding results are now out with the lowest bid for 5 MW starting at a mind numbing Rs. 7.49 per ($0.15) KWh submitted by Solaire Direct who have in the past shown interest in using an all equity style of funding. The band was between Rs. 7.49 at the lowest and Rs. 9.44 ($0.19) for the highest bidding Green Infra.

The full list of bidding organizations and their quoted rates are as below:
