NEXTracker expands its manufacturing presence in Mexico

NEXTracker, a company that specialises in the manufacture of tracking systems for solar farms, has expanded its presence in Mexico to meet a growing demand for its high-performance trackers.
NEXTracker expands its manufacturing presence in Mexico

The company will utilise the manufacturing capabilities of the Flex Group, of which NEXTracker is part, in addition to several other component supply partners, to provide a ‘made in Mexico’ tracker for utility scale projects.

NX Horizon was previously known as NEXTracker SPT and is UL 3703-certified. The tracking system has been designed specifically for distributed generation and utility-scale solar power systems, with current shipments of over 100 MW per week. The tracker’s fewer number of foundations and assembly points help to mitigate geotechnical risk and accelerate project construction schedules. Preparation costs are minimised thanks to the tracker’s independent rows and high slope tolerance while it’s self-grounding and self-powered design provides valuable savings in labour and materials. The tracker’s 120 degree rotational range enables PV systems to take full advantage of high irradiance regions while an elevation of a minimum of 40” above the ground helps to prevent damage from dirt, flooding and vegetation.

“Our trackers are particularly well-suited to Mexico” said NEXTracker CEO Dan Shugar. “NX Horizon is optimized for integration into the growing number of utility scale projects being deployed. Our relationship with Mexican-based manufacturing enables us to secure high quality components, reduce material lead times – and accelerate project completion.”

The company’s first project in Mexico, in partnership with Buenavista Renewables (BVR), was the 16 MW Los Santos solar power plant. The company is now seeing the benefits of a fortified supply chain extend throughout North America, for example DEPCOM Power’s recent projects using NX Horizon. NEXTracker’s added manufacturing capacity in Mexico assisted the deployment of these systems in record time.

NEXTracker has established global recognition for its advanced PV system innovations, designed to empower solar power plants of all sizes in order to increase performance and reduce costs across five continents. The company is one of the fastest growing clean technology companies in the solar sector. It is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area.
