“We’re looking forward to continuing our work with the San Antonio community,” said Tony Dorazio, president of OCI Solar Power. “The development of each phase of the project gets us closer and closer to bringing clean, renewable energy to homes and businesses throughout the area.”
In a written statement, the company said the project, which is located on 445 acres near the historic city of San Antonio will catapult Texas to one of the top five US solar-energy producing states.
The project will power nearly 70,000 homes and bring more than 800 permanent jobs to San Antonio as part of an Economic Development Agreement between OCI Solar Power and the City of San Antonio.
The first phase of the project will be completed by the end of 2013, and plans for the remaining megawatts will be built through 2016.
