Six site visits planned for European bioenergy conference

Three large-scale plant visits are planned during the AEBIOM European Bioenergy Conference 2012 between 25 and 27 June. Attendees at the event will be able to visit: Vigan’s plant which manufacturing loading/unloading devices for bulk feedstocks; Enviva’s industrial pellet production facility; and GDF-SUEZ’s Electrabel Awirs4 Biomass Power Plant, a coal-fired plant retrofitted to use 100% pellets.

Other visits will be on offer to small/medium-scale plants. These are:Cofely Services’ pellet-powered district heating system, Horizon Pléiades’ biomass heat network for high energy efficient residential buildings, and Hydrogaz’s district heating system that uses biogas and wood.

The 3rd AEBIOM European Bioenergy Conference 2012 is being organised under the patronage of the Danish Presidency, at the Renaissance Brussels Hotel (Belgium) and will focus on EU legislation, sustainable feedstock supply and market opportunities.

The annual conference has grown ever since its first edition in 2010 and has quickly become Europe´s major occasion for exchange and interaction between industry and policy.

For 2012, the organisers are expecting at least 300 participants from the fields of production, planning, and energy supply, as well as experts from research and development, associations, media, governmental agencies and administrations. Supported by the strong network of AEBIOM, this cooperative event offers a powerful exchange opportunity for the bioenergy market in Europe.

Agenda sessions and conference highlights include:

► Future European Legislation: CAP, bio-based economy, sustainability,…
► Biomass Supply: energy crops, pellets, torrefaction, trading,…
► Sustainability criteria and certification…
► Markets: electricity, heat, biogas…
► Several company profile cases…
► Dinner at the EU Parliament (25 June)
► B2B meetings focused on biomass supply/demand (26 June)

Currently, AEBIOM is happy to announce the support of 7 sponsors for the conference, Novozymes, BioAlgaeSorb, Vattenfall, CPM Europe, PUSCH, Sistemas de Transferencia de Calor and Vigan.

“AEBIOM is an outstanding opportunity to meet with opinion leaders, decision makers and specialists from the biomass industry. Therefore, it provides an excellent basis to achieve a better understanding between equipment suppliers, customers and those who prepare and decide the legal framework for sustainable biomass based energy production," comments Friedrich Papst, Executive Vice-President of Andritz AG.
