Technical innovation opening up new opportunities in PV, conference organizers say

Germany's EEG amendment, passed during the summer, has brought further uncertainty to the solar industry. Nevertheless, recent technical developments are opening up opportunities for this ailing sector, the organizers of the upcoming Solarpraxis conference said.
Technical innovation opening up new opportunities in PV, conference organizers say

The 15th Forum Solarpraxis, which  take place at the Hilton Hotel Berlin on 27 and 28 November 2014, is slated to provide the insights necessary to take advantage of these trends.

The conference languages will be German and English. Last year around 600 industry representatives attended the conference.

Among  the topics to be discussed will be technical innovations and their potential for cost reduction. Other topic areas in the Forum Solarpraxis will include new market segments such as plant concepts for the private and commercial sectors, PV parks, and business models for existing installations.

"At the Forum Solarpraxis, we are offering the players in the solar industry the background knowledge they need to help to shape the energy transition successfully. This is crucial, since policies around the energy sector are in a state of enormous flux. So, for example, we will be examining the new tendering processes, which are to be introduced for testing in 2015 and will become mandatory for solar parks from 2017“ said Karl-Heinz Remmers, CEO of the organizers Solarpraxis.

Sales models for the electricity markets, energy storage and the most important foreign markets also feature on the conference agenda.

"Photovoltaics still has enormous development potential. This is illustrated by, for example, the new perovskite solar cell technology that is generating so much interest, whereby efficiencies could be raised five-fold in just five years" said Karl-Heinz Remmers.

As part of the "Future PV Forum" at the Forum Solarpraxis, experienced market experts will discuss innovative startups, and scientist will talk about the latest technological developments in the solar market and their importance to the industry. "Prices for energy storage will fall much faster than previously thought, because the rapid expansion of electric mobility is driving up volumes across the world market.

A mass market for non-mobile applications will follow in its wake. For Germany this means, among other things, that the energy transition can be implemented in full without requiring new fossil-fired power plants; this heralds a total paradigm shift" Remmers went on to explain.

Discussions between the participants will again have a high profile at this year's event. So, whilst they enroll, all guests at the Forum Solarpraxis will be able to log-in for interactive matchmaking via the registration form.

Participants enter the topics they find interesting in search- and offer lists. They can use these to organize contacts with other participants. All participants to the Forum can also apply for a place on the Business Speed Dating when they complete their application.
