The company, led by the trailblazing Elon Musk, describes the Fremont opening as "another milestone" in the expansion of Tesla’s West Coast supercharging network -- a system which will soon span from Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada to Los Angeles in the US.
Superchargers are substantially more powerful than any other charging technology to date providing 120 kilowatts of power and replenishing three hours of driving in about twenty minutes.
With this expansion, Tesla drivers have will gain access to 18 charging stations within the United States. Each of them is located off major highways near cafes, shopping centers and travel plazas and are designed to enable free long distance travel between city centers.
