The Green Port Project will transform over 500 hectares of land into designated enterprise incentive zones, based on the UK port of Hull. The port is in a prime location in relation to UK offshore wind activities in the North Sea, thereby being perfectly placed to capitalise on the growing opportunities offered by the UK offshore wind industry. Hull City and East Riding Councils and Associated British Ports (ABP), along with partner organisations, have been working together to ensure this vision becomes a reality. The project has the potential to become the single biggest influence on the local economy for generations.

Just recently, on 9th January, Siemens dispatched the first batch of its wind turbine components from the port, destined for the Dudgeon offshore wind farm off the Norfolk coast. Siemens is using the Hull site and the harbour, which is built on land reclaimed from the Humber, as the pre-assembly and loadout hub for the Dudgeon wind farm.

AGE have recently opened an office in Hull and this, alongside membership of the Green Port, will benefit the company in the form of increased exposure to other companies, exclusive access to networking opportunities and also as a qualified supplier to the project.

“The North East is a region that is experiencing rapid growth in the low carbon sector” said AGE managing director Ben Leigh. “The Green Port in particular is designed to firmly establish Hull and East Riding as a world class centre for renewable energy. As a specialist recruitment company to the low-carbon sector, being a member of Green Port allows AGE to work closely with suppliers, manufacturers and operators. We expect that the Green Port, alongside other major projects in the region will create a wealth of new jobs. There is continued investment from private companies as well as the government into the region and we hope to be involved as much as possible, placing experienced candidates into essential roles”
