Solar energy company REC has launched a new solar panel range called the REC TwinPeak 2 BLK2, a black variant of the REC TwinPeak 2, which is now in commercial production.
REC begins commercial production of new all-black multicrystalline solar panel

REC is beginning commercial production of the new panel series which was officially launched in January this year. The company’s innovative proprietary cell technology has successfully produced uniformly black-coloured multicrystalline cells which, when assembled together with a black frame and backsheet, forms REC’s first full-black panel.

The REC TwinPeak 2 BLK2 is now available globally and will be of considerable interest in residential markets in the US and Europe where aesthetics are highly valued.

“REC continues to accomplish new feats with multicrystalline technology” said Cemil Seber, Vice President, Global Marketing and Product Management at REC. “In addition to reaching power levels that were once unimaginable on this platform, REC can now produce black multicrystalline cells for a truly full-black multicrystalline panel, resulting in a product with high power output, renowned REC quality and optimized aesthetics.”

The new panel series has a nominal power rating of up to 285 Wp and is the second product in the TwinPeak 2 family. It incorporates cells made from larger wafers for increased current production, five busbars for reduced cell resistance and half-cut cell technology to further reduce internal resistance. The panel also has a PERC (Passivated Emitter Rear Cell) which increases light capture and a split junction box to allow improved performance in shaded conditions.

The panel is certified according to IEC 61215 and IEC 61730, as well as UL 1703 and has a maximum system rating of 1000V. It is 100 percent free from potential induced degradation (PID) in order to avoid power losses even in the harshest conditions.
