The heat pump system will use 55 holes which will go to 350 feet or approximately 120 meters. This will be a first in Florida however another McDonalds in Westland Michigan can lay claim to being the first ever McDonalds as such having already used heat pumps in 1997. The restaurant itself will also have other energy saving systems installed to become more environmentally friendly. This follows a recent trend in the food industry with large enterprises such as Frito Lay exploring and experimenting with methods to reduce their CO2 footprint and become more environmentally friendly so as to hedge their bets against future problems. The issue will also prove to be a boast to most companies in the future as costs come down via more widespread implementation of the findings.
