The farm is the world's largest vertically integrated supplier of pistachios and almonds, and is located at Lost Hills. The facility uses amorphous thin film PV panels and will provide enough electricity to power around 300 households, preventing the emission of some 2,600 tons of CO2.
Due to the choice of technology, the system will have an estimated payback time of only 6 years.
“Paramount Farms, a leader in the farming community, is committed to a balanced green strategy, one that utilizes clean energy to reduce costs and improve efficiency,” Mr Dave Szeflin, VicePresident of Operations at Paramount Farms said.
The system was built by SolarCraft, which has a high reputation in solar PV systems in farms. Mr Bill Stewart, President of Solarcraft, has stated to be very proud of the work done.
