Pevafersa to open 120 MW cell plant in Zamora

The facility, which will employ 60 people, will be opened next year. The company expects to sell cells independently.

The Toro-based company will open the factory in two separate phases: the first one will open in April 2008 with an investment of 55 m euros, and the second one will open in mid 2009 with 20 m euros.

The firm, which already employes 387 people and is one of Spain's largest solar companies, will add 60 more people to its payroll. "For this type of activity, employee training is crucial" said Mr Vicente Fernández, President of Pevafersa. For this reason, some of the staff of the plant have already been hired and are being currently trained.

The new plant will manufacture 5 and 6-inch cells, and its capacity will be 120 MW per year. With this move, the firm intends to sell cells independently, and hopes to increase its export figures.
