The American Jobs Project has published a report outlining the economic opportunity available to the US state of Maine from offshore wind, including the estimated jobs potential.

American Jobs Project report outlines Maine’s economic opportunity in offshore wind

The report The Maine Jobs Project: A Guide to Creating Jobs in Offshore Wind was researched in partnership with the Maine Centre for Business and Economic Research at the University of Southern Maine, the Environmental & Energy Technology Council of Maine, and BVG Associates. It details strategies that build on Maine’s potential to cultivate growth in the offshore wind industry and provides tailored strategies for building a skilled workforce in the industry, creating thousands of good paying jobs.

Maine currently faces the challenge of stagnant population growth and a rapidly aging workforce. The potential for new jobs can help to catalyse a fast-growing economy that positions the state as an industry leader and provides gainful employment opportunities for the thousands of Mainers who are not currently participating in the labour force.

The report release coincided with the US Offshore Wind 2018 event in Boston.
