Europe on Track For Record Wind Year

Europe is on track for a record wind year. It installed 8.8 GW of new wind power capacity in the first half of 2026, a 30% increase on the first half of 2025. That’s good news for Europe’s energy security and competitiveness. But structural problems persist. Policy choices on permitting, grids, and electrification will determine whether the wind ramp-up will continue.

US adds 20 GWh of energy storage capacity in Q2

The US energy storage industry installed a record 20.2 gigawatt hours (GWh) of new capacity in Q2 2026, according to the US Energy Storage Market Outlook Q3 2026 (ESMO) released by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Benchmark Mineral Intelligence.

Fervo Energy and Google Sign 396 MW PPA

Fervo Energy announced a 396-megawatt (MW) power purchase agreement with Google to enable the continued development of the Cape Station enhanced geothermal systems GeoCluster, expected to come online in 2028.
