Making Energy More Affordable With Solar Power: An interview with Deep Chakraborty of Enact Solar

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), the utility that provides gas and electricity to residential and business customers in central and northern California is pushing the state’s regulators to approve another rise in energy rates, that is after the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) already agreed that the utility could levy an increase of around $33 per month beginning in 2024.   This could make electricity and gas bills even more unaffordable, but PG&E says it is essential in order to help pay for damage by winter storms and to mitigate wildfires.   REM talked to Enact Solar CEO Deep Chakraborty to find out how solar power could help to provide a monetary lifeline to Californians, the potential benefits of installing solar systems in the wake of the PG&E rate hike and how the company has played a key part in driving forward solar installation in the state.
