IDEALFUEL Consortium for Development of Renewable Maritime Fuels Kicks Off

Many ships use heavy fuel oils that contain large amounts of sulphur and nitrogen leading to the emission of greenhouse gases and other damaging substances. IDEALFUEL, the consortium led by Eindhoven University of  Technology (TU/e), seeks to address this issue by developing new, efficient and low-cost methods to produce low-sulphur heavy fuel oils from wood-based non-food biomass. The project has received a €5 million grant from the European Union’s Horizon2020 program, and officially started on Friday May 1st, 2020. 

Neste Acquires Count Terminal Rotterdam

Neste, a leading producer of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel produced from waste and residue raw materials, has acquired 100% of the Dutch Count Companies BV’s Count Terminal Rotterdam BV and its supporting entities, part of the First Dutch Group of Peter Goedvolk. The transaction was signed and closed on May 7, 2020.

Wärtsilä and Vantaa Energy Partner on Biogas Project in Finland

The technology group Wärtsilä and Vantaa Energy Ltd., a Finnish energy company, have signed an agreement on a joint concept feasibility study for a Power-to-Gas facility at Vantaa Energy’s waste-to-energy -plant in the city of Vantaa in the capital region. The co-development agreement was signed in May and is valid for 12 months.
