Highview Power to Develop Multiple Cryogenic Energy Storage Facilities in the UK 

Highview Power, UK-based manufacturer of long-duration energy storage solutions, plans to construct the UK’s first commercial cryogenic energy storage facility (also referred to as liquid air) at large scale, which will be located at a decommissioned thermal power station in North of England.

Latest Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) figures by BloombergNEF (BNEF) reveal that the global benchmark LCOE for onshore wind and PV projects has reached $47 and $51/MWh, down 6 percent and 11 percent respectively from six months ago, mainly owing to cheaper equipment while the offshore wind LCOE benchmark sits at $78/MWh, down from 32 percent last year.

Virtue Cider, a Michigan-based craft cidery located among miles of orchards and vineyards in Southwest Michigan’s Cider Coast, has just completed the installation of a 78-kW solar array next to its cider houses, which means that more than half of its purchased electricity will be coming from renewable sources and is equivalent to 150,000 pounds of CO2 avoided each year.
