Solar was Half of US Capacity Additions in 2023

A review by the SUN DAY Campaign of data newly-released by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reveals that solar provided half of the U.S. generating capacity added in 2023 with almost 5,000 megawatts (MW) coming on line in December alone.

Acciona Energía to build new solar plant in India

Acciona Energía has announced it will build a new 412 MWp solar PV plant in the state of Rajasthan, India, with commissioning planned by 2025. The solar farm will consist of around 750,000 photovoltaic modules of 545Wp each. It will produce around 800 GWh of green electricity per year, enough to power 840,000 households, and will avoid the emission of 724,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

Amazon and Vena Energy have announced the commercial operation of a new 125-megawatt (MW) renewable energy project in Woleebee, Queensland. Wärtsilä to Deliver one of Scotland’s Largest Energy Storage Systems to Zenobē 

Technology group Wärtsilä will supply a 300-MW / 600-MWh energy storage system under an Engineered Equipment Delivery contract to Zenobē, an electric vehicle fleet and battery storage specialist, in Kilmarnock, Scotland. This is the second energy storage system Wärtsilä is delivering to Zenobē, and it will be one of the largest in Scotland to date. It will be the first facility built with Wärtsilä’s Quantum High Energy.
