Oceantic Network has announced the formation of a West Coast Supplier Council, focused on the unique needs and development of the region’s offshore wind sector and its supply chain.
Oceantic Network launches West Coast Supplier Council to help support US west coast floating offshore wind

Using the knowledge and experience of Network members in the west coast supply chain, the Council will ensure that supply chain perspectives and expertise are included in state and federal planning processes covering the US West Coast.

Currently, the offshore industry on the East Coast is experiencing significant challenges, and the West Coast can learn from these lessons to ensure a successful industry. Floating offshore wind is poised to play a significant role in achieving US clean energy targets and west coast states have a unique opportunity to lead the way and create a new American industry that will deliver long-term economic benefits. However, the exponential growth in demand for floating offshore wind on the west coast will present new challenges to the supply chain and, unless these issues are addressed, the industry will not move forward in a way that delivers the most value to communities.

“The West Coast is at a critical stage in its offshore wind development, and we look forward to encouraging its sustainable and intentional growth” said John Begala, vice president of federal and state policy at Oceantic Network. “We are fortunate to have assembled a strong collection of companies with the experience and capabilities to get projects delivered on time and on budget. These are the businesses that will serve as the backbone of a robust offshore wind supply chain, with potential to employ countless workers at a competitive wage.”

The West Coast Supplier Council is made up of companies that act as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), engineering procurement and construction (EPC) firms, and Tier 1 suppliers. Additionally, the companies serving as founding members of the Council have all delivered technology, components, or infrastructure to at least one full-scale offshore wind project operating globally or under construction in the US. The Council will work with all major stakeholders on the development of a healthy offshore wind sector on the West Coast, including, but not limited to, project developers, labour unions, policymakers, port authorities, environmental advocates, and other groups.

Founding members of the West Coast Supplier Council include:

    Aker Solutions AS

    Burns & McDonnell

    Crowley Wind Services

    Foss Offshore Wind

    Hellenic Cables

    Manson Construction

    Nexans

    Principle Power, Inc.
