Established in 1994, the annual European Solar Prize has been given to numerous towns, municipal enterprises, individuals and organisations for the outstanding service they have given to renewable energy in all its forms. This year, we are very proud to announce that Eurosolar will be handing us the European Solar Prize for Media. It is only the second time that a Spain-based publication has been recognised, the first being Era Solar in 2003 when it celebrated its twentieth anniversary. We will be accepting this year’s award at the same time as celebrating our tenth anniversary.
This year’s awards ceremony will be hosted by KfW Bankengruppe in Berlin and will bring together players across the renewable energy sector to celebrate the most innovative and relevant initiatives and projects across the sector. Unfortunately, for the first time in many years, Hermann Scheer will not be present. Scheer, who founded Eurosolar in 1986, sadly died recently, and in his memory Energías Renovables has published an article in this month’s print version of the magazine celebrating the valuable contribution he made to the industry.
Our tenth year has been turbulent for everyone, including the renewables industry. Despite the difficult circumstances, there has been plenty of positive news we have been able to share with our readers through our three websites (Energías Renovables, amERica and Renewable Energy Magazine) and printed magazine, and the signs are that 2011 will be even brighter. We recently took on new writing staff and next year will also see us publishing the hundredth edition of our printed magazine.
Finally, as this year draws to a close, we are pleased to announce that we will be relaunching our websites with a completely new design, which will incorporate new services and functions in order to remain at the forefront of clean energy journalism. We look forward to continuing to provide you with all the latest on renewables into the next decade and beyond.
