J.v.G. Thoma and Green Panel Tech established Green Panel Technology Jurawatt in 2012 and production equipment has already been delivered with the first installation having been completed in April 2014. Tunisia’s energy demand continues to grow as its economy develops, however the country’s oil reserves are no longer sufficient to meet demand. This has forced the country to turn to renewable energy instead.
The Plan Solaire Tunisia (PST) is playing an important role, particularly in establishing an ambitious target for increasing the Tunisian renewables quota from 1 percent in 2009 to 4.3 percent in 2014. The planned solar plant will be located in Tunis where it will manufacture J.v.G’s ‘desert’ (HPTP) modules which have an extremely heat resistant design.
The modules are suited to a constant maximum temperature of 125 °C, have a high output, are 100 percent PID (Potential Induced Degradation) free and have an extended lifespan. They range in size from 1x1 metres to 1x2 metres and require only a small amount of personnel to manufacture thereby saving on the operator’s day to day production costs. This is because the entire production line is fully automated, with J.v.G providing process and module certifications. Module production is expected to commence in early June 2014.
