Enel Green Power selected NexTracker to supply and install the trackers and piers. The project is deploying NexTracker’s Gen2 NX Horizon self-powered tracker and NexTracker has now expanded its manufacturing footprint in Mexico in order to support the Mexican project and other projects in the southwestern region of the United States. A total of 26,000 piers and 1,624 miles of torque tubes were delivered to the Villanueva site and 650 MW has already been installed by Swinerton Renewable Energy.

“This announcement demonstrates NexTracker’s ability to massively scale and innovate with our customers in new markets, of which Mexico is especially promising” said Dan Shugar, NexTracker CEO.

George Hershman, President at SRE and SOLV Inc added that the on-time shipment and logistics of manufacturing and delivering large quantities of trackers and associated hardware enabled efficient installation of over 650 MW of solar trackers to date by the SRE team.

Villanueva will feature advanced data connectivity, enabled by NexTracker’s recently developed SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. This data hub communicates bi-directionally with Flex’s cyber-secure SmartNexus platform. This combined solution offers control and data collection and management capabilities, enhancing operational control and analysis of NexTracker components.

Once fully operational, the plant will generate enough energy to supply approximately 1.3 million households and offset more than 780,000 tons of carbon emissions yearly.
