SolarEdge launches enhanced version of Smart Energy Hot Water device

As part of its continued efforts to improve the way energy is produced and consumed, SolarEdge is launching an enhanced version of its Smart Energy Hot Water device which diverts excess solar PV power to provide hot water and energy storage.
SolarEdge launches enhanced version of Smart Energy Hot Water device

SolarEdge’s Smart Energy Hot Water device acts as a wireless controller that automatically diverts excess PV energy to provide hot water and highly cost effective energy storage. The new Smart Energy Hot Water device now offers an optional SolarEdge temperature sensor that provides system owners with visibility into the water tank temperature. In addition, the device features increased efficiency from 97 percent to 98 percent, so less energy can be used to heat water. The device can be easily integrated with the SolarEdge monitoring platform.

By adding the Smart Energy Hot Water device to their offering, installers have the potential to increase their average selling price (ASPs) and offer system owners an additional way to reduce electricity bills by increasing self-consumption.

The Smart Energy Hot Water device is now available for order in both 3kW and a higher power size of 5kW available in Q2 2020. The device is suitable for purely resistive loads.
