Intelligent Energy which has been responsible for the design and develop of the hydrogen powered Envbike announced yesterday that it was entering a partnership with Suzuki Motor Corporation to provide it’s Proton Exchange Membrane technology to Suzuki . Suzuki is looking to incorporate these lightweight fuel cell systems into future motoring products.
The chief executive of Intelligent Energy was quoted as saying “As a company, we have a range of leading clean technologies based on proprietary fuel cell and fuel processing systems. We work with key partner companies to integrate our systems into their products. It is well known that Japanese companies are particularly sophisticated and knowledgeable when it comes to fuel cell-based products. We are therefore delighted to announce our new partnership with the Suzuki Motor Corporation. This is an endorsement of Intelligent Energy’s technology and of our ability to forge partnerships with leading industrial partners to accelerate the development and commercialization of fuel cell-powered products.”
The Envbike can get to speeds of 80 kms (50 miles) per hour and has a 160 km (100 mile) range. The Envbike uses a “Core” which is a hydrogen fuel cell generator and is able to generate between 1 – 6 Kw of power depending on requirements. At 80kg the bike is very light, and has even incorporated noise generation to make it safer. The bike has been designed around the fuel cell and has a very sleek and futuristic look.
