Expanded SSX ONTARIO to debut next month in Toronto

The fourth B2b Ontario Solar Summit will be an expanded affair this year with the inclusion of a sizable exhibition, according to presenter Solar Network International.
Expanded SSX ONTARIO to debut next month in Toronto

The event, which is being held 25-26 June 2012 at the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is expected to be the most comprehensive solar energy event ever held in the province.

The conference comes at a critical time for solar industry in Ontario, which is waiting for the province's energy ministry to approve a proposed new feed-in-tariff structure.

While any change can be disquieting, industry executives and investors are said to be particularly upset with provisions in the new rules that would allow the Ontario Power Authority to shut a project down without reason, and also restrict where and how developments can be built.

Talks between the industry and the government are said to be ongoing.

The SSX Summit program will be conducted over two days and include plenary sessions on key issues in the Solar PV market with conference tracks directed to specific markets. Attendees will explore the challenges and learn solutions for successfully implementing solar energy from senior industry stakeholders.

The two-day B2B Expo will feature up to 50 companies showcasing cutting-edge Solar PV products and services.

The keynote speakers are Paula Mints, director of the energy practice at Navigant, the global consultancy, and Jeff Rubin, the former chief at CIBC World Markets and author of The End of Growth (2012).

“Ontario’s Green Energy Act inspired enormous private investment in solar energy projects. Now is the time for us to learn from our achievements and build on our success for Ontario to realize its potential as a global leader in solar energy,” says Jacob Travis, President of Solar Network International.

The SolarVision Awards Gala on 25 June will honour and celebrate the visionaries who are advancing and making possible the gains in solar energy in Ontario.

SolarLiving Show a special feature of SSX ONTARIO: Solar Summit & eXpo will be held the evening of 25 June. This feature will engage and educate the public about the emerging solar market in Ontario and will help non-professionals – both enthusiasts and the simply curious – learn more about solar energy solutions.
