Envision Solar successfully completes testing of ARC Mobility

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging company Envision Solar has announced successful deployment of its autonomous, 2.3 kW solar-powered EV charging station, EV ARC.
Envision Solar successfully completes testing of ARC Mobility

Following the deployment of its new standalone solar powered EV charging station in Shasta Lake, California, in August 2014, Envision Solar has now introduced a mobility system for the unit enabling it to be transported to any location and deployed within minutes upon arrival.

The ARC Mobility trailer means that the EV ARC can deployed in around 5 minutes and without the use of specialised equipment apart from the trailer, which can be towed behind a pickup truck rather like a boat trailer. The charging unit is attached to the trailer at Envision’s manufacturing facility in San Diego and transported from there to the customer location. Upon arrival, it is parked in a pre-selected parking space while the trailer returns to the Envision facility to pick up another unit for delivery. The whole operation is conducted by an operator whose only required skill set is to park the trailer.

“We are currently producing volumes of EV ARCs and Solar Trees for ten separate customers who are in different regions of the country and our order book is more active than ever in our history” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Envision Solar. “Having a highly efficient delivery system which we control has already saved us money and time on this first delivery. EV ARC was already the fastest deployed EV charger in the industry and now our customers will benefit from even greater speeds of deployment while we increase our margins as a result of this new product.”

The EV ARC was invented, engineered and fabricated in Envision Solar’s new facility in San Diego, California where the company employs a diverse work force including disabled, US Marine Corps combat veterans. So far it is the only off-grid, transportable, solar-powered EV charger available, with the added ARC Mobility enabling it to beat its own previous records for speed and ease of deployment. The unit has been designed to fit comfortably inside a standard parking space and is ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant.

The EV ARC solar array generates around 16 kWh per day, storing them in its 22 kWh battery storage. Generation is enhanced by a tracking system and the unit has the ability to fully charge one typical EV per day or offer quarter charges to multiple EVs in city environments while vehicles are parked. It is also equipped with power outlets to enable electric wheelchair charging.

Envision Solar is based in San Diego, California, where the company designs, manufactures and deploys unique and proprietary renewable energy media and branding systems and EV chargers with a Drag & Drop Infrastructure product line.
