Marianna Rossi, Environmental Psychologist

The GenComm session, ‘The Commodification of Green H2 for Europe’, according to Biebuyck, will be “filled with interesting debates and presentations on the future of energy and I am happy to see green hydrogen is once more high on the agenda. Get ready for an exciting program and tune in to our session on the Commodification of Green hydrogen for Europe – a subject that’s more relevant than ever. Let’s discuss how we can make hydrogen an everyday commodity for all Europeans!”

GenComm Coordinator Paul McCormack said, “Among the most important challenges we face today is the energy crisis and the decarbonization of the global economy. In order to successfully meet these challenges is to consistently expand our renewable energy sources with green hydrogen as the key energy vector and to further develop the concept of sector coupling, building system resource efficiencies and integrating renewables in industry, energy and mobility infrastructures with Power to X solutions.”

The interactive session will examine positioning Hydrogen technically and environmentally to become an energy commodity. The session will detail the key steps in the hydrogen value chain, production, storage and use to maximize green energy outputs and accelerate the transition to net zero.

It will discuss the need to develop innovative sector coupling technologies and strategies, new energy models to achieve widespread use of secure renewable energy supply and how the implementation of existing and new technologies with industry stakeholders/customers provides commercial confidence.

Marianna Rossi, a Research Associate at the German GenComm Partner IZES gGmbH is also anticipating speaking at the global event, saying, “The EUSEW offers people with the most diverse backgrounds and disciplines the opportunity to come together and exchange their opinions and ideas.

"As a psychologist, I look forward to being able to accentuate the social perspective and welcome the input of the other participants. Above all, I am looking forward to a lively exchange on the subject of green hydrogen and its possible role in the energy market of the future.”

Rossi will speak on the subject of ‘H2 Evaluation’ as part of the GenComm session. This will look at how Green H2 can assist EU communities face multiple challenges and become energy secure.

Diana Raine, Hydrogen Advisor, Worley will speak in the session on ‘H2 Actualization’. This will examine hydrogen as a buffer between energy demand and supply.

Raine said, “‘Scaling of plants alone will not be enough to reach global target production costs of hydrogen to drive market adoption; we need innovation in project execution and new business models if we are to achieve ‘actualization’ in green hydrogen. “

Dr. Rory Monaghan from GenComm Partner NUIG will speak on ‘H2 Validating P2X’. Monaghan will examine the validation of the use of Green H2 and how to accelerate this through the creation of a techno-economic model Enabling Support Tool, (EST) This EST is one aspect of a regional empowerment strategy for communities to play an active role in energy transition.

Looking forward to the September 27 event, Monaghan  said, “Presenting our work at EUSEW gets us in front of one of the most influential audiences in Europe. Policy-makers, elected officials, industry leaders and academic researchers are counted among EUSEW's attendees. When we speak here, we inform Europe's decision-makers of our work on green hydrogen, sustainable transport and energy resilience."

GenComm Program Manager Paul Mc Cormack who is also the Belfast Met Innovation Manager will speak on ‘H2 Optimization’ looking at building on the Hydrogen topography.
