Nixon Hire launches Pulse browser-based portal for real-time renewable energy monitoring

Nixon Hire’s Pulse is an online, browser-based portal aiming to give customers automatically refreshed insight into energy use, carbon impact and cost performance linked to off grid renewable energy equipment on hire.

Developed in direct response to customer needs that go beyond the provision of sustainable assets, Pulse is a digital customer interface resulting from an 18-month, seven figure investment in data infrastructure.

Built for operational and sustainability teams, Pulse provides portfolio-wide visibility with the ability to drill down to individual sites and assets. It draws on data from Nixon Hire’s connected renewable energy fleet and converts it into clear, consistent dashboards and detailed asset outputs in just a few clicks, reducing manual collation and avoiding reliance on estimates, which has traditionally been the norm across the sector.

Pulse helps customers understand what is driving site performance, and how changes on the ground affect outcomes. By making it easy to compare sites and see the contribution of different assets over time, it supports more informed decisions on how equipment is deployed and operated, helping teams optimise sustainability objectives.

Pulse is a significant pillar in Nixon Hire’s digital strategy and reflects the company’s belief that an effective digital interface with customers is fundamental to its role as experts in sustainable sites and unlocks further value from its renewable energy assets.

Ahead of launch, Pulse was tested across 28 customer sites, where early users highlighted time saved, improved consistency in reporting from a single, trusted data source, and better visibility of up-to-date performance to support day-to-day operational decisions.

Through Pulse, customers can:

View equipment and renewable energy assets on hire by site

Access live diagnostic insights and identify energy generation issues

Track financial savings, fuel savings and carbon reductions

Compare site efficiency and performance across multiple locations and time periods

Access asset-level renewable power performance data

Export site-level and portfolio-wide reports in PDF, or data in Excel

View Nixon Hire’s wider ESG performance data, including depot-level sustainability metrics

Available for all renewable energy customers, Pulse is initially focused on renewable energy monitoring and reporting, with planned updates set to extend into broader operational and financial aspects of the customer experience.

“Pulse is one of the most important undertakings we’ve delivered as a business” added Brian Cornett, Chief Executive Officer of Nixon Hire. “It brings together a huge amount of work to connect equipment, centralise data and strengthen the systems that sit behind the customer experience, so customers can actually see real data as evidence and act on it across sites. We have invested heavily and worked closely with customers throughout, because the aim was never to create just another dashboard. Pulse was developed to remove the friction customers have told us they face in gathering and reporting performance data, giving customer operational and sustainability teams a shared, trusted view of performance and making reporting quicker and easier. This launch reflects how we are raising expectations of what a sustainable site partner should deliver. By combining our substantial renewable energy hire fleet with a fully connected data platform, we believe we are giving customers the visibility and usability they need to manage site performance with greater confidence. We will keep building on it in direct response to what customers tell us they require.”
