Partnership between Trinasolar and Goldbeck Solar supports 270 MW PV development for Blue Elephant Energy in Germany

Smart solar specialist Trinasolar has closed an agreement with Goldbeck Solar, a specialist in the construction of industrial, commercial and large-scale solar PV plants, to equip the Schafhöfen solar park in Bavaria with approximately 370,000 solar modules.

With a peak capacity of almost 270 megawatts (MW), the Schafhöfen project will be the second largest solar park in Germany upon completion.

The large-scale solar project spans several phases and locations. Full commissioning of this vast energy park is planned for 2027, with the main construction work taking place in 2026. A solar park of this size can generate enough electricity to supply around 75,000 average households for an entire year. The project initiator and owner is Blue Elephant Energy GmbH (BEE). Goldbeck Solar is responsible for the construction of the solar park, and Bayernwerk has been commissioned to build the substation and grid connection.

Trinasolar will deliver bifacial Vertex N PV modules with a total capacity of 269 MW. The modules incorporate i-TOPCon technology, to improve performance in low irradiance conditions and thereby generating more electricity across days and seasons. The Vertex N NEG21C.20 is a large-format solar module, which lowers CAPEX and LCOE while ensuring a high energy yield and maximum reliability.

“With the Schafhöfen solar park, we are realising one of the largest and most ambitious PV projects in Germany, reinforcing Goldbeck Solar’s role as a leading EPC partner for large-scale solar infrastructure” said Stefan Spork, Head of Regional Centre Central Europe at Goldbeck Solar. “Delivering projects of this magnitude requires strong, trusted partnerships and high-performance technology. With Trinasolar, we have a reliable partner whose advanced module solutions support our commitment to building efficient, future-ready energy systems. Together, we are making a substantial contribution to strengthening regional energy security and accelerating Germany’s energy transition.”

The solar park will increase security of supply and flexibility in the electricity grid, and provide green energy for communities and large partners, such as Deutsche Bahn, through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with IPP Blue Elephant Energy (BEE). This setup shows how solar power can sustainably strengthen the regional energy supply and make a significant contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions.

“This flagship project in Bavaria is setting an impressive example for successful approaches supporting Germany's energy transition” added Gonzalo de la Viña, President Trinasolar Europe and Latin America & Caribbean. “Long-term partnerships between industry leaders such as Goldbeck Solar and Trinasolar provide the trust and planning certainty needed to deliver projects of this scale and accelerate the decarbonisation of industry and transport. We are proud to contribute to this project with high-performance solar technology designed to maximise energy yield and long-term value.”
