The wind farm will generate the equivalent of the electricity consumption of over 600,000 households. The energy will mainly be used to meet the needs of an energy intensive industrial company through a 20-year power purchase agreement. This contract guarantees the client competitive, low-carbon energy at a stable and predictable cost.
Located in the northeast of Brazil, the wind farm generated significant local economic activity, creating up to 1,300 jobs during the peak of construction phase, with workers primarily coming from surrounding communities. During the operation phase, around 30 persons are working on the site.
Beyond generating direct economic benefits, EDF power solutions supported local communities by implementing training programmes for young adults. These initiatives were designed to enhance professional skills and facilitate entry into the workforce, successfully benefiting over 160 individuals.
“The launch of Serra das Almas’ operations is a major milestone for EDF power solutions” said André Salgado, CEO of EDF power solutions Brazil. “It showcases our expertise in energy production solutions, enabling our clients to advance their decarbonisation journey with optimised costs and a reliable energy supply.”
