Eurowag Expands Truck Decarbonization Services With Biofuel Swap

Eurowag, a technology leader and key partner to Europe’s commercial road transport sector, is taking another step to accelerate the industry’s transition to a low‑carbon future. Biofuel Swap is a flexible decarbonization solution based on HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) that can be used even where HVO is not physically available. It supports Eurowag’s long-term strategy to help customers reduce their fleet’s carbon footprint without additional effort, infrastructure changes, or hidden costs. As a “virtual HVO” solution, Biofuel Swap allows customers to continue fueling with conventional diesel, while Eurowag arranges for an equivalent volume of HVO to be supplied into the European network through its certified partner, FincoEnergies.

Transport companies using Biofuel Swap receive an audited sustainability certificate to support ESG reporting requirements from retailers and shippers. The certificate includes the input fuel and emissions factor, the period covered, and the estimated emissions saved. Customers can request Biofuel Swap via Eurowag’s website.

“The transition to net zero in commercial road transport requires solutions that deliver immediate, scalable CO₂ reductions across Europe. By combining our expanding HVO network with the new Biofuel Swap service, in cooperation with FincoEnergies, our customers experience no restictions whatsoever and eveything is fully certified,”‍ says Matthias Maedge, Vice President CRT Decarbonization at Eurowag.

Eurowag customers benefit from FincoEnergies’ expertise in sustainable biofuels and emissions accounting, turning their ambitions into tangible climate impact.‍

“Road transport decarbonisation cannot wait for perfect conditions. Together with Eurowag, we are embedding decarbonisation directly into daily transport operations, making sustainable biofuel solutions scalable, transparent and easy to adopt across Europe,” explains Oliver Steen, Director Renewables Germany at FincoEnergies.

Elmex Group, a Polish transport company, is among the leaders in adopting Eurowag’s Biofuel Swap service. The company operates a modern fleet of Euro 6 trucks and provides transport services to major automotive, e-commerce, FMCG, paper, and other industrial clients across Europe.‍

"Elmex is a major investor in alternative energies, and leverages advanced TMS, WMS, and telematics to cut CO2 emissions while keeping its operations efficient and future-proof. In addition to LNG and bioLNG, Biofuel Swap is an ideal addition to our low-carbon energy mix, and it is perfectly suited to our clients' needs, offering a flexible solution for transportation in most of the countries where we operate,“ commented Krzysztof Potok, President of ELMEX Group.
