E-bike operator Forest unites with Octopus Energy to power its e-bike fleet across London

Forest has announced Octopus Energy as its official energy partner, meaning that from December, Octopus Energy will power Forest’s fleet of 20,000 bikes across London with zero-carbon electricity.

The move will cement Forest’s status as London’s most sustainable and most affordable e-bike operator – and the only one powering both its bikes and service vehicles entirely with green energy.

As part of the collaboration, Octopus’ 8,500 UK employees will get access to Forest’s Cycle to Work scheme, giving them 30 hours of ride time and unlimited free unlocks from £28.80 per month.

Customers can also shift gears towards a cleaner commute. One million members of Octopus Energy’s reward scheme, Octoplus, will receive 30 free ride minutes with Forest when they download the app – making it even easier (and greener) to zip across the city.

“Sustainability has been central to Forest since day one” said Agustin Guilisasti, Founder and CEO at Forest. “We’ve always powered our fleet with zero-carbon energy, but this partnership with Octopus Energy marks a major milestone for our business. As our official energy provider, Octopus will play a crucial role in accelerating our sustainability journey and we’re immensely proud to partner with another London-born company that shares our ambition to make sustainable transport easy, affordable and accessible for everyone across the capital.”

Both companies were founded in London and have grown rapidly – with Octopus becoming the country’s largest energy retailer in just ten years, and Forest emerging as a leader in sustainable urban mobility.

The partnership comes amid sustained growth in e-bike demand. Forest has seen multiple record-breaking months this year, with riders covering over 47 million km – equivalent to cycling around the Earth approximately 1,100 times – saving more than 2,160 tonnes of CO2.

Forest’s new relationship with Octopus will be instrumental in helping the business continue to grow responsibly, while helping it meet its goal of becoming net-zero by 2030.

“For anyone that has ever spotted me on my way to a meeting, you’ll know that e-bikes are far and away my favourite way to get around London” added Greg Jackson, Founder and CEO at Octopus Energy. “I could not be happier that we’re now powering Forest Bikes – bringing even more clean, green ways to travel to people across the city.”
