The ability to charge at home reduces a driver’s running costs and improves overall confidence in switching to EV. Drivers with access to private parking and a home charger are finding their EV significantly cheaper to run than their previous petrol or diesel car.

EVA England has found that advice on home charging is a recurring theme when drivers are asked what would give them confidence to make the switch.  Better access to home charging products is another common response among EVA England members.

Members can choose how they want to get home EV charging with Pod at a discounted rate:

Subscribe: Get Pod Drive with no upfront fee. The standard £99 setup cost is waived, and then a monthly fee of £34 for a three-year term.

Buy outright: Get £100 off the purchase price of a Pod Point home charger, bringing the cost of an untethered unit from £999 down to £899.

Both options additionally include access to Pod Power by EDF and Pod Rewards, so that EVA England members have a fully integrated home set-up from day one, including an exclusive 5-year warranty.

Pod Power by EDF is Pod's dedicated EV energy tariff, offering a seven-hour window of cheaper off-peak electricity every night at 6.49p/kWh. It enables members to plug in before they go to sleep and wake up to a full charge, at the lowest rates available. This is one of the easiest ways to cut the cost of running an electric car.

Pod Rewards pays customers up to £100 a year for smart charging. It works by automatically scheduling charging sessions during periods of lower grid demand, which helps balance the network and maximises the use of renewable energy. Members set their charge targets and Pod takes care of the rest, then the cash rewards land in their account.

The discount deal has also been extended to friends and family, so EVA England members can share the benefits with those closest to them also making the switch to an EV.

Dr Vicky Edmonds, CEO, EVA England and Melanie Lane, CEO at Pod, alongside other industry leaders, will be speaking on the headline panel at Everything Electric Greater London, on the topic of what’s next for the EV and greentech sector.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Pod to provide extra support for EV drivers across the country, especially at a time when we need to remind drivers of the real benefits of switching to electric - cheaper running costs and a more convenient refuelling experience” said Dr Edmonds. “The driver experience is always at the heart of EVA England’s work, and our collaboration with Pod reflects this. The ability to charge affordably and seamlessly is something our drivers raise as a priority time and time again, and we are especially pleased to be partnering with an organisation that puts accessible charging at its heart.
