The second electric vehicle road trip in the Middle East region held by Global EVRT is now underway. The event began on January 18 and coincides with the World Future Energy Summit, part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
The road trip will run for nine days and cover 1,217 km (756 miles) across the UAE and Oman and will include the opening of 18 new electric vehicle charging stations along the route, opening up new roads to electric vehicle owners. The 10 participating cars will travel the route without using any petrol.
The three-day program will showcase a variety of electric vehicles, and industry experts will take part in detailed discussions on the future of mobility for the creation of smart and sustainable societies.
Additional event partners include Volt, one of the UAE leaders in EV and sustainable energy infrastructure installation, the Middle East’s Clean Energy Business Council, Chevrolet and IHG. A full list of sponsors is available in the Global EVRT website.
Ben Pullen, Managing Director of Global EVRT said: “We are thrilled to be back in the Middle East, after successful electric vehicle road trips and mobility conferences in the UAE and Europe in 2017. The rate at which electric vehicles are progressing in the Middle East, in the UAE especially, is very exciting, and we aim to expand and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles even further through our events, aligning with the inspiring sustainability initiatives of the UAE government.”
