Designed and manufactured by designed by Octopus’ specialist team near Belfast, the award-winning Cosy heat pump includes multiple sensors which measure temperature and humidity and enable a more comfortable home. Optional remote servicing is available to keep the systems in top condition, with no annual service visit needed. Wireless software updates (just like a smartphone or computer) are also available to boost comfort, control and efficiency even after installation.
The new dashboard collects anonymised aggregate data and proves that over the last month, Cosy systems generated over 4 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh unit of energy put in, with a COP (efficiency rating) of 4.11. This compares with a generally accepted COP of 0.85 for a gas boiler, meaning Octopus’s heat pumps run at about 4.7 times the efficiency of gas boilers.
The dashboard also allows users to drill down into regional data, showing exactly how much heat is delivered for every kWh of energy used to power the Cosy fleet across Great Britain.
The data for the Cosy shows an annual average performance of 3.68 (Seasonal Performance Factor or SPF). 80 percent of Cosy heat pumps have been cheaper to run over the last year than a gas boiler. Customers on Octopus’ heat pump tariff, Cosy Octopus, saved on average £219 a year vs a gas boiler.
“We're launching this revolutionary data dashboard to prove, in perpetuity, that heat pumps cost less to run than a gas boiler” said Greg Jackson, CEO and Founder of Octopus Energy. “This isn't a projection or a lab test – it's daily data from thousands of homes. We are showing the world that our Cosy tech can beat the boiler in efficiency, slash bills, and lead the charge to a cleaner, cheaper energy system.”
It comes as Octopus releases the results of a new survey. In a recent survey of Octopus customers, 85 percent said their heat pump costs the same or less to run than their old gas boiler, and 89 percent reported total satisfaction even during the January 2026 cold snap.
