Currently 3 percent of Michigan’s energy is generated using renewable energy. Last month a plan called the Michigan 21st Century Energy Plan was presented by Public Service Commission Chairman Peter Lark. The plan targeted three main areas, building a newer system of power plants, conserving energy, and using more renewable energy.

 

The targets set were to sell to customers 10 percent renewable energy as part of the overall energy mix by 2015, reducing peak demand by 660 megawatts by 2017, and development of a newer generation of plants to cut down on pollution.
