The Oradea project is Econergy’s fourth operational solar project in Romania, bringing the company’s connected and ready to connect capacity in the country to 447 MW. With an additional 788 MW under construction and 559 MW expected to begin construction by the end of 2025, Romania remains one of Econergy’s key growth markets.

As part of its broader strategy to integrate storage into its renewable energy portfolio in Romania, Econergy plans to add a 68 MW co-located battery energy storage system (BESS) at Oradea. The storage system is expected to significantly enhance the economic value of the project by creating new revenue streams, supporting grid-balancing services, and optimising electricity sales through price arbitrage.

The project is developed in partnership with Phoenix Holdings Ltd., which has invested more than 225 million euros in Econergy’s projects in Romania and Poland, underscoring the strong collaboration between the two companies.

“The successful connection of Oradea marks another important milestone for Econergy in Romania” said Eyal Podhorzer, CEO of Econergy. “This achievement underscores our ability to deliver large-scale renewable projects while advancing our strategy of integrating storage solutions to maximize value for our stakeholders. We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Phoenix Holdings as we continue to expand our renewable energy platform across Europe.”

Econergy is also in advanced discussions to secure project financing for Oradea and will provide updates on the process progress.
