Under the new agreement, Sungrow will deliver its PowerTitan 2.0 solution to existing PV plants operated by Nordic Solar. The collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to accelerating the energy transition in the Baltics.

“These projects are important steps in enhancing the flexibility and value of our existing solar portfolio by integrating storage into operating PV plants” said Fuat Volkan Cebe, COO in Nordic Solar. “Sungrow’s reliable technical solutions and collaborative approach have been valuable in the process, and we look forward to working together. The projects strengthen our efforts to develop efficient and future-proof energy assets across Europe.”

Lithuania has set ambitious climate targets, aiming to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 70 percent by 2030 and to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The country is rapidly expanding renewable energy, with plans for all electricity produced to be green by 2030 and renewables to account for 100 percent of final energy consumption by 2050. The integration of large-scale BESS with existing PV plants is a crucial step toward grid modernization, energy independence, and the achievement of these targets.

“Lithuania’s rapid progress in renewable energy is inspiring, and we are delighted to support Nordic Solar in delivering reliable, flexible storage solutions that will help the country achieve its ambitious targets” added Moritz Rolf, Vice President of Sungrow Europe and responsible for DACH, Benelux, Nordics and Turkiye. “The integration of BESS at our Lithuanian sites will set new standards for efficiency and sustainability.”

The two projects in Lithuania will add 40 MWh and 80 MWh BESS to already operating PV plants. These projects will see units of Sungrow’s BESS PowerTitan 2 integrated with established PV assets, enhancing grid stability by shifting generation, improving the utilization of existing assets, reducing curtailment and providing additional grid services as well as supporting Lithuania’s renewable energy ambitions. The BESS projects have an expected COD before the end of 2026.

The PowerTitan 2.0’s pioneering technology significantly reduces both capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) costs. The all-in-one AC-DC block design of PowerTitan 2.0, with pre-assembled battery modules and PCS, ensures seamless integration, significantly reducing installation time. With PowerTitan 2.0, the project complies with the EU electricity market and actively participates in grid balancing, ancillary services, and wholesale energy trading, ensuring competitive benefits for stakeholders.
