 Tesla Sends Powerwalls to Puerto Rico

The unprecedented devastation caused by Hurricane Maria continues to threaten the health and welfare of the residents of Puerto Rico. In an effort to aid in the recovery, California-based Tesla is shipping hundreds of Powerwall battery systems to the island. The systems will aid in the restoration of power to the millions of Americans still struggling with the aftermath of the storm.

In addition to sending hundreds of Powerwall systems into Puerto Rico, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has personally donated $250,000 to aid in relief efforts, according to Fortune.

Tesla’s effort to help victims of Hurricane Maria follows recent efforts made in South Florida after the company unlockedmore battery range for Model S and Model X owners affected by Hurricane Irma through an over-the-air software update, extending the electric vehicle’s battery capacity from 60 kWh to 75 kWh.
