Koskienergia's power plants are small hydropower plants that produce energy for the Finnish grid, with an annual production capacity of approximately 160 gigawatt hours per year.

The largest plant in terms of power is Kuhankoski in Laukaa, Central Finland, with a total power of about 8 megawatts. Kuhankoski's average annual production corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 1,800 electrically heated detached houses.

With the agreement, Enersense's role as an energy production maintenance expert will remain strong in the future as well.

“We are happy that our long-term partnership with Koskienergia will continue” said Jonne Lassila, head of hydropower at Enersense. “Hydropower is an efficient and reliable form of energy production that can produce electricity continuously and thus regulate the balance of the electricity grid. When we take good care of hydropower plants, their availability remains at a high level. The high availability of hydropower plants, on the other hand, helps in maintaining the balance of the electricity grid. In our daily operations, we want to exceed our customers' expectations.”

The contract includes the comprehensive maintenance of all hydropower plants owned by Koskienergia, including troubleshooting and alarm work. In addition, the contract includes local access services.

“The renewed agreement with Enersense ensures that the operation and maintenance of the power plants will continue reliably and availability will remain very good” added Hannu Ruotsalainen , CEO of Koskienergia. “Thanks to the long-term cooperation, Enersense's personnel know the operation of our power plants well, and together we can develop and renew the power plants even better.”

The agreement also includes sites protected by the Finnish Museum Agency, such as the old Kuhankoski hydropower plant in Laukaa, Central Finland, and the old Billnäs Ruukki hydropower plant in Raasepori, Uusimaa.

The duration of the agreement is five years and it will enter into force on January 1, 2025.
