India set to host second CSP summit

After the success of the first summit last year, CSP Today has announced the launch of the 2nd Concentrated Solar Thermal Power Summit India, which it is hoped will give companies from traditional CSP markets such as Spain and the US the opportunity to build on relationships forged last year with their Indian counterparts and help ramp up this nascent industry in South Asia.
India set to host second CSP summit

“The event will address the main industry challenges and provide a powerful forum for international and local participants,” said CSP Today in a recent statement. It will take place in New Delhi on 12 and 13 April at The LaLit Hotel. Companies from the whole CSP value chain, financial community, government representatives, key associations, suppliers, project developers and new stakeholders are expected to attend. A spokesperson for CSP Today stated “this event was created to provide solutions to best face the specific challenges entailed by building a CSP industry in India”.

The conference will set out how to build a profitable and commercially successful CSP business in India. Leading experts including Abener, Acciona, Abengoa, ACS Cobra, Cargo Power, FAST, IFC, SENER, Deutsche Bank, Protermosolar, Ferrostaal, Hira Group, Siemens amongst others are already confirmed to speak. Strategies to create a sustainable sector and accelerate market growth will be discussed along with core industry concerns such as: achieving financial closure; supply chain development, component sourcing and indigenization strategies; land acquisition and state level clearances; and successful project execution, yield optimization and operations & maintenance.

“The CSP industry in India is poised for massive growth and development of indigenous new revenue streams and this will be a shaping year,” explained Maria Slough, Event Director at CSP Today. “Yet, there are compelling challenges that need to be addressed during the first phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, which means that fast action is required.”

The event organisers have announced that the Forum for Advancement of Solar Thermal (FAST) will be official partners of the event. FAST will be using their expertise to discuss how to build capacity and expand the industry. Sponsoring the summit will be global leaders Siemens, alongside Tyco and Sun To Market Solutions in the focused CSP exhibition area.

In 2010, CSP Today attracted more than 2,800 people through their events hosted in USA, Europe, the Middle East/North Africa region and India, and is devoted to promote the evolution of CSP technologies and markets by providing news and an open forum for those who are shaping the industry’s future.
