As the AI revolution and rapid electrification push the aging grid to a breaking point, power availability is now the primary constraint on human progress. While legacy battery manufacturers struggle with long lead times, massive capex, and geopolitical supply chain risks, Moment Energy is activating a dormant domestic resource: the millions of EV batteries already on North American roads.
"AI is exposing what's been broken in the grid for years, and the answer isn't waiting on the next trillion dollar utility upgrade. The era of independent energy is here, energy free from a grid that can't keep up, supply chains we don't control, and decades of new extraction. It starts with the batteries already on our roads. We're certified to put them to work," said Edward Chiang, Co-Founder and CEO of Moment Energy.
Moment Energy has advanced battery repurposing from experimental use cases to enterprise-grade commercial deployment. The company has achieved critical safety milestones, including UL 1974 and UL 9540A certifications, making it the only provider proven capable of deploying second-life battery storage systems in the built environment without special dispensations or regulatory loopholes.
Moment Energy is fundamentally redefining the economics of energy storage. Its proprietary pack-swapping architecture extends system lifespans to 30 years—double the typical 15-year lifecycle of conventional systems. Combined with domestic tax incentives, this enables up to three times lower net costs, reducing cycling costs to a breakthrough 3 cents per kWh for industrial users.
These breakthroughs are driven by Moment Energy’s proprietary technology stack.
“Moment Energy is the only player in the EV battery repurposing industry that has proven safety and scalability are not mutually exclusive. With a deep, data-driven understanding of battery health and chemistry, Moment Energy is uniquely positioned to deploy high-performance systems. This is a real-world use case for Physical AI: turning complex data into the reliable energy storage needed to power our future," said Marty Reed, Partner at Evok Innovations.
To meet the power demands of manufacturers and hyperscalers, Moment Energy has engineered the world’s most dense second-life battery system. Fully FEOC compliant and highly insurable, its compact footprint enables up to 164 MWh of storage per acre, maximizing ROI per square foot in high-value, space-restricted environments.
With this new funding, Moment Energy is scaling its Texas Gigafactory and BC facilities to meet a critical national need. By ensuring FEOC compliance and rapid deployment, Moment Energy is providing North American industries with energy storage that is sustainable, geopolitically secure, and ready to power the Independent Energy revolution.
