Gamesa receives certification for G90 Class II wind turbine

Gamesa has received certification for its G90 Class II wind turbine from GL Renewables Certification (GL), one of the world's leading wind energy industry certification bodies. As part of the certification process, the turbine passed a product design review, a power curve test and verification of the load assumptions by prototype measurements, in accordance with GL2003 certification guidelines.

Gamesa certifies its wind energy systems and wind turbines with accredited certification bodies such as GL. This process allows the company to convey to the market and financial institutions, through the opinion of an independent third party, the integrity of its products' design, development, manufacturing and construction.

The company has obtained GL certification for its G5X and G8X systems, and is currently working to gain certification for the low-temperature version of the G90 turbine for use in the US and Canada. Similarly, it is in the process of gaining certification for its latest design, the Gamesa G10X 4.5 MW platform.

The certification was presented to Gamesa during a hand over ceremony by Christian Nath, Vice President of GL Renewables Certification and was accepted by Jose Antonio Malumbres, Gamesa’s Chief Technology Officer and Antonio de la Torre, the company’s Product Development Director.

With more than 15 years' experience in renewable energy technologies, primarily wind, Gamesa is a world leader in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of wind turbines. Gamesa has installed more than 18,000 MW throughout the world. The company has more than 3,500 MW of installed wind capacity and a wind farm portfolio totalling 22,000 MW at varying stages of development in Europe, America and Asia. With 30 manufacturing facilities in Europe, the USA, China and India, and 4,400 MW of annual manufacturing capacity, Gamesa has an international workforce of more than 6,300 people.
