Global Wind Service Acquires Part of Total Wind

Danish company, Global Wind Service, has acquired all offshore and blade activities from Total Wind A/S following Total Wind’s bankruptcy. With this acquisition GWS takes over several ongoing projects including customer contracts and employees.

The main activities acquired include; Horns Rev I, DK, Service works for Vattenfall; Horns Rev III, DK, Installation and completion for MHI Vestas Offshore Wind; Port of Esbjerg, DK, Pre-assembly activities for MHI Vestas Offshore Wind;Various blade repair projects in Europe.

Lars Bo Petersen, CEO of GWS said, “Despite the unfortunate circumstances for Total Wind A/S, we are pleased to announce, that GWS has been able to step in and secure the jobs of more than 150 Total Wind employees. We are also glad to be able to ensure steady progress on the projects…already ongoing.”

With the acquisition GWS now employs over 800 people.

The company stated, “This initiative is in line with the our defined strategy for future growth and expansion.”
