GreenGo announces authorisation for 12 MW ‘La Motta’ wind farm in the province of Foggia, Italy

GreenGo has announced it has obtained the single authorisation for the 12 MW ‘La Motta’ wind farm, developed by the SPV Green Flag in the Foggia area, a project already awarded under the GSE’s FER X auction.

The project has secured an incentive tariff of 72.12 euros/MWh, to be indexed upon entry into operation (COD)  and paid by the GSE for a period of 20 years.

The green light for the project represents a further step forward in the growth of GreenGo’s proprietary portfolio and strengthens the Group’s position in the wind power segment, with a total pipeline of 300 MW in regions of Southern Italy with high wind potential.

Wind power, as also confirmed by the EU’s recent approval of the state aid framework, will play a dominant role in FER X and is strategic for GreenGo’s evolution as a multi-technology, vertically integrated Independent Power Producer. GreenGo’s multi-technology approach is fully aligned with the objectives of the FERZ call for proposals, as it allows the specific characteristics of the plants to be leveraged, optimising efficiency, operational flexibility and the integration of different renewable sources.

Apulia, historically one of the most significant regions for the development of renewables in Italy, also represents for GreenGo an area with strong industrial and entrepreneurial roots, in which the Group is consolidating a diversified pipeline comprising wind, agrivoltaics, photovoltaics and BESS totalling 245 MW, at an advanced stage of development or ready to build.

“The approval of the La Motta project is an important step in the consolidation of GreenGo’s proprietary pipeline in regions that are strategic for us” said Alberto Piva, GreenGo’s Business Development and M&A Director. “The fact that the project has already been awarded the FER X tariff, alongside two other projects in Puglia totalling 55 MW, confirms that GreenGo is building a bankable pipeline of high value, both in terms of eligibility for the regulated market and in terms of high returns compared to merchant solutions with long-term or short-term PPAs based on wind power generation profiles. The upcoming GSE competitive procedures and the reform of grid connections will clearly reward platforms capable of high levels of execution: for this reason, we continue to focus on selected projects with technical quality and solid authorisation, accelerating construction readiness and financial commissioning. In this context, Puglia remains one of the regions most representative of our growth in utility-scale wind power, alongside Sicily and Calabria, with premium-yield wind sites.”
