Suzlon ups it stake in REpower

 

Suzlon Energy Limited, the world’s fifth leading wind turbine maker with 10.5% of global market share, announced the acquisition of Areva’s total stake of approx 30% in REpower Systems AG of Germany.

This means that Suzlon now owns 66% of REpower , including 89% of the voting rights. Suzlon ranked as the world’s fifth leading wind turbine manufacturer with over 10.5 % of global market share in 2007. The company has ranked as the leading manufacturer in the Indian market for nine consecutive years. REpower currently develops, produces and sells wind turbines with outputs ranging from 2 to 5 megawatts and rotor diameters of 82 to 126 meters.

Mr. Tulsi Tanti – Chairman and Managing Director – Suzlon Energy Limited,was quoted as saying: “This is an important step forward clearly demonstrating our unchanged long-term commitment towards the REpower.”
