Through this first-of-a-kind partnership, Kaluza co-developed an integration with Hyundai Motor Group’s new digital ecosystem, Kia App and myHyundai App, setting the technical standard for how EVs integrate with the energy system. This partnership will begin with Kia and Hyundai in the UK, then launch in Australia. It will give EV drivers a seamless way to charge their vehicle at the times that minimise cost and carbon emissions, with the same user experience in-app.

“We selected Kaluza because of their depth of expertise in energy intelligence and their ability to work with us at the frontier of what's technically possible” said Woong Tae Hwang, Vice President and Head of EV Energy Strategy Group at Hyundai Motor Group. “This is not just a product integration. We are co-developing the standard for how EVs participate in the energy system, and we expect the rest of the market to follow. That's the kind of partner we needed.”

Through close partnerships with major global brands, Kaluza Flex helps automotive companies strengthen their customer relationships, unlock recurring revenue, balance the energy grid, and turn device owners into active participants of a smarter, cleaner grid.

“This partnership is about more than smart charging” added Stephen Fitzpatrick, CEO at Kaluza. “Kaluza and Hyundai Motor Group are building the new industry standard for how electric vehicles integrate with the energy system, starting in the UK and Australia. The market will follow. That's what this kind of co-development is for. It's also a critical first step in building the foundation for vehicle-to-grid services that can reduce energy costs and support the energy transition for years to come.”

Embedded into an OEM’s app, Kaluza energy intelligence allows EV drivers to manage charging from their phone, decide when their vehicle needs to be ready, and save money by using the cheapest and cleanest energy.

Hyundai Motor Group and Kaluza are integrating smart charging controls natively into the Kia App and Hyundai’s digital platforms. The partnership lays the groundwork for more advanced capabilities, including vehicle-to-grid (V2G) services planned from 2027. This will enable Kia and Hyundai drivers to save on their energy bills by charging when renewable energy is plentiful and cheap, while also supporting a more resilient grid.
