The physics and operational economics of geothermal have been proven for over a century, but implementation has been stymied by high drilling and installation costs. Dig's compact, modular rig was built to solve those challenges, specifically.
The project at Suffolk’s 100MAG is the first to demonstrate Dig’s drill in the field with boreholes serving an individual building, installed on an active commercial jobsite. The technology runs with a fraction of the crew, footprint, and disruption of conventional drilling equipment, and the active work area at any given time occupies just a few parking spaces.
Site drilling at 100MAG began in early August and was completed in approximately two weeks.

Suffolk Technologies, the venture capital affiliate of Suffolk, is also an investor in Dig through its BOOST 6 accelerator, which brings emerging technologies onto properties and projects around the globe through Suffolk and a network of industry partners. Using Dig gives Suffolk a live deployment of geothermal, enabling the national general contractor to better evaluate the scale and affordability of the energy source for future commercial jobs.

Suffolk works with clients across the U.S. already investing heavily in geothermal and on-site energy infrastructure, including education and data centers, two of Dig's core growth markets. In the coming months, Dig plans to deploy additional New England projects, including a grocery store, a utility headquarters, and a small campus.
